Spratt Endicott Solicitors is committed to ensuring that all aspects of our business activities are conducted in an ethical and professional manner minimising the impact on the environment. We are committed to operating to the highest possible legal standards with a strong sense of integrity, developing and maintaining trust with our clients and business partners.
We believe Community, Diversity and Environmental issues are key to Corporate Social Responsibility and our approach to these is summarised on the right.
Community:
Every year we adopt one main charity as our “Charity of the Year" which is then our main focus for fundraising activities.
We have been raising funds for a Charity of the Year for over ten years now. Our charity of the year fundraising starts on 1st May each year and runs to 30th April the next year, so we have a full financial year to raise funds.
Whilst Spratt Endicott Solicitors supports a number of charities both locally and nationally, the idea of our Charity of the Year is for all of our staff to raise funds individually and collectively for a local nominated and elected charity.
In recent years we have supported local charities such as The Horton Hospital and Brodey Centre, ROSY (Respite Nursing for Oxfordshire’s Sick Youngsters), Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance Crew and B.A.R.K.S. (Banbury Animal Rescue and Kindness Service).
This year we are pleased to announce we will be raising funds for SSNAP (Support for the sick newborn and their parents) which is a charity that supports the Newborn Intensive Care Unit at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford. Founded in 1982, SSNAP is able to provide a range of items over and above what the NHS can provide for the Intensive Care, High Dependency and Low Dependency nurseries within the Unit.
It costs over £100,000 to equip a Newborn Intensive Care cot. Some babies are well enough to go home after a few days and some can be looked after in the NICU for over a year. If you would like to learn more about SSNAP please visit their website at: http://ssnap.org.uk/
The Charity of the Year is very much a collaborative fundraising initiative that gets everyone at Spratt Endicott involved. Favourite activities often include food … for instance we regularly hold cake days and put together hampers, which are then raffled off! The enthusiasm and support is fantastic and we particularly like assisting local charities and hope that our funds can make a real difference.
As well as our charity of the year we sponsor or provide assistance to a variety of local charities and organisations where there is a link with our people, the local community or the legal industry in general. A number of our partners and staff also engage in legal pro bono work or take part as individuals in charitable events.
Diversity:
Spratt Endicott is fully committed to creating a culture of equal opportunity, fairness and inclusivity for all. We are recognised locally as excellent place to work and have been awarded Investors in People. We promote equality and diversity in our own policies and practices in relation to all professional dealings with staff, clients and other solicitors or third parties. Everyone is treated equally regardless of their disability, gender, marital status, age, race, racial group, colour, ethnic or national origin, nationality, religion or belief or sexual orientation.
Going Green – The Environment:
We recognise that our activities have an impact on the environment. We want to limit these impacts as far as possible, and view compliance with environmental law not as a benchmark but a minimum requirement.
We are committed to ensuring that our business is environmentally responsible and believe it is essential for us to achieve continuous improvements and support external initiatives.
To address key issues of concern and minimise our environmental impact we commit to reducing the production of waste and recycle where-ever possible. We also aim to conserve energy through efficient use of natural resources and manufactured products such as paper.
These commitments are set out in our Environmental Policy which is central to our business. The environment policy is reviewed on an annual basis. The policy is implemented by our Green team which meets monthly to promote environmental awareness and reduce waste.
