Kärcher first announced their Accumulator Challenge in 2014. The Accumulator Challenge is a fundraising initiative where businesses, colleges, schools and community groups in the local area compete to raise as much money as they can for Katharine House Hospice.

The challenge is a simple one; each team that enters is given a start-up capital of £50 by Kärcher.  They then have three months to see how much money they can convert their £50 into for Katharine House by coming up with creative, out of the box entrepreneurial ideas.

This year Spratt Endicott’s Trainee Solicitors have agreed to take part in this exciting challenge and hope to raise as much money as possible for Katharine House. The Hospice is a fantastic charity that makes a real difference to families in the local community and was chosen as the Spratt Endicott Charity of the Year for 2016.

Ben Madden, Trainee at Spratt Endicott said: “Since September, our team, Ana-Marie Badeanu, Chris Furlong, Krishan Patel and myself, have been working hard on the challenge and tapping into our collective resources. We have been writing to various businesses, sports clubs and other eminent organisations in the area asking them for prize donations. Throughout December, these prizes will be raffled off and silently auctioned at various events that we will be hosting for our professional contacts and staff.”

The response has been extremely positive with an excellent selection of prizes. Here are just a few:

  • a voucher for 2 tasting menus (worth over £100!) at the Tame Hare in Leamington Spa, a local independent restaurant serving British food;
  • £50 (x2) towards an Indian Meal at Voujon, Banbury;
  • a family pass to the Roman Baths, Fashion Museum and Victoria Art Gallery;
  • Game of golf for 4 at Studley Wood Golf Club;
  • a dazzling night at the Towcester races including a meal, drink and free bet;
  • Family season ticket for Bletchley Park;
  • a poster from Formula 1 team Williams, a leading team immersed in history, signed by Canadian driver Lance Stroll, F1’s latest teenage sensation . Stroll is the youngest rookie (and second youngest driver in history) to achieve a podium finish.

Ben said: “We have been thrilled by the responses we have received so far from the various organisations we have contacted in the area and think it is extremely encouraging that so many are prepared to support their local community. Our next step is to turn that goodwill into vital funds for Katharine House to help it to continue to provide its specialist care.”
